Tyke football is an exciting and full contact sporting experience for all players. There are only three rules when it comes to football at this level and quite simply they are: Play safe. There is no compromise when it comes to safety of the players. We will constantly be reminding the players about how to play safely. All instructions the players receive will emphasize that their safety and the safety of those they will play against depends on their understanding of this principle. Play fair. All players will be instructed on the rules of play and a code of conduct on the field. All players will be expected to follow this code of conduct and play within the rules. Those who do not play by the rules will not be allowed to play. Have fun. We will always encourage and guide the players but at this level the coaches always keep in mind that they have the privilege of coaching children and that the game must be fun. For many players it will be their first contact sport, which is tough enough. Football is a complex game with many new skills. Code of Conduct
Please note that one of the major concerns that parents have is that their son or daughter may not play as often as they might like or that their child comes to every practice but does not seem to play as much as they feel they should. Please remember that all players will be allowed to play at their skill level. As this is full contact many players are initially very confident but have second thoughts when they discover that the opposition pushes back. Coaches want to play all members of the team in a safe environment. If they feel a player is too shy, intimidated or needs more time to develop, then that player will see only the playing time they can handle. |
